UAE- Sheikh Zayed memorial to be unveiled on January 22


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Founder's Memorial, a permanent national tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, will be inaugurated on January 22 in an official ceremony in Abu Dhabi.

The official inauguration ceremony will also be broadcast on all major national TV channels, starting at 9.30 pm.

The Founder's Memorial will be inaugurated with the unveiling of the monumental artwork, the centrepiece of the site, to coincide with the commencement of the Year of Zayed, declared by the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to mark Sheikh Zayed's 100th birth anniversary.

Opening to the public in spring 2018, the Founder's Memorial will offer visitors a range of personal encounters with Sheikh Zayed as a man and a leader, enabling a deeper understanding of his life, legacy and values.

Through art, landscape, words, stories, and rare footage, visitors to the site can learn about the great leader through a dynamic, informative and inspirational experience.

Located at the intersection of 1st and 2nd street in Abu Dhabi, 3.3 hectares of public space will serve as a place for reflecting on and celebrating the nation's history and heritage.

Honouring Sheikh Zayed's timeless legacy, the site will showcase and pass on his values to future generations of Emiratis.
