(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Jan 16 (KUNA) -- The Arab League's Secretary General Ahmad Abul-Gheit on Tuesday spoke highly of "parliamentary activity" in Kuwait, saying it was reflective of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's support. The Arab League chief's remarks came in a meeting with visiting Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim and a delegation accompanying him, read a statement by the Cairo-based regional bloc.

Abul-Gheit commended Kuwait's top lawmaker for his hands-on approach and his commitment to have the Arab region's best interests at heart, the statement noted.

It cited Al-Ghanim's concern over the "critical juncture" that the region is going through, which behooves Arab nations to work closely together to stave off armed conflicts that have left a number of countries in shambles.

Meanwhile, the statement pointed out that both officials exchanged views over the current state of affairs in parliaments across the region.
