Hite Jinro: new branch in Vietnam


(MENAFN) Top liquor maker of South Korea, Hite Jinro Co., said it has set up a new branch in Vietnam, as it attempts to step further into the large Southeast Asian market.

The company also opened its second street bar in the Southeast Asian country., while the first Korean-style covered street bar, called "pojangmacha" in Korean, opened in the capital city of Hanoi last year.

Chief of the company's global business division said: "Southeast Asia is a market with great potential. It will be the starting point of the globalization of soju."

According to the liquor maker, its signature drink, soju, reached 8.8m USD in sales in Southeast Asia last year, up from 4.9m USD in 2015 and 6m USD in 2016.
