Oman to implement green energy projects by 2025


(MENAFN) According to Oman Power and Water Procurement Company's (OPWP) chief, by 2025, Oman is to launch several solar and wind-based electricity projects that are to yield power capacity of 2,500-3,000 MW.

The company's CEO Yaqoob Saif Hamood al Kiyumi was cited as stating "the financial Affairs and energy Resources Council has obligated OPWP to ensure that a minimum 10 per cent of energy production comes from renewable resources by 2025. Our aim is to exceed that target with commitments for at least two projects by 2019, with huge renewables based capacity being established definitely by 2025."

The CEO also declared the entire projects to improve powers significantly, with capacities estimated in hundreds of megawatts.
