Kuwait's population of old people reaches 95,159, Kuwaitis 52,818

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 11: Director of Elderly Health Care Department in the Ministry of Health Dr Ibtisam Al-Huwaidi said Kuwait, as of June 2017, had a total population of 95,159 old people of which 52,818 are Kuwaitis — according to statistics of Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), reports Al-Jarida daily.

In a speech delivered on the sidelines of the annual training course on ways to care for the elderly, Al- Huwaidi said clinics have been established in all health zones for the category, and medical personnel in their various specialties — including doctors, nurses and technicians are required for the treatment of elderly people.

She pointed out that the course aims to present information about elderly people and locations of the clinics that provide them health services, while shedding light on early diagnoses of common diseases affecting the elderly in particular. She reiterated the national strategy (2016-2020) aims at providing premium health services to the elderly.
