ABU DHABI, 11th January, 2018 (WAM) -- The National Centre of Meteorology, NCM, has warned sea-goers in the Gulf of Oman of rough seas and high winds, as waves are expected to reach as high as 6 feet. The warning is valid until 9:00 pm today.

The centre said that on Thursday and Friday the weather will be partly cloudy, with cloud cover expected to increase during the day over the eastern mountains and towards the western region of the country, and humid overnight and during the early morning inland.

It forecast Westerly to Northwesterly light to moderate winds in general, freshening at times over the sea, with speeds of15 to 30 km/hr., possibly reaching 40 km/hr over the sea which will be rough to moderate in the Arabian Gulf, and moderate, perhaps becoming rough at times, in the Gulf of Oman.

From Saturday to Monday, it is expected to be humid overnight and during the early morning over some inland and coastal areas, with some chance of fog and mist formation. In general, it expected to be fair to partly cloudy.

Winds are expected to continue to be light to moderate Westerly to Northwesterly in general, freshening at times over the sea during Saturday, wind speeds of 10 to 25 km/hr., perhaps reaching 35 km/hr over the sea. The sea state will be moderate in general, perhaps becoming rough at times, on Saturday in the Arabian Gulf, and slight to moderate in the Gulf of Oman, the centre concluded.
