Turkey, Croatia agree to strengthen cooperation

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Jan 9 (KUNA) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks with his Croatian counterpart Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic at Presidential Complex on Tuesday.

During the meeting, both leaders agreed to strengthen the bilateral ties and cooperation on the international arena.

The talks dealt with the bilateral relations in economy, trade, culture and politics, as well as regional and international issues - including Syria and Iraq, Erdogan said at a joint news conference with Grabar-Kitarovic. "We also discussed in detail the fight against terrorism," Turkey's Anadolu Agency (AA) quoted him as saying. Turkey will continue to "root out" the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) - the group behind the 2016 defeated coup - in the Balkans, he said.

Erdogan added that "the fruitful and successful" meeting with Kitarovic will accelerate the relations. President Grabar-Kitarovic, for her part, said her one-day visit to Ankara was "vital." "We do not have any problem, but of course we can further enhance our relations," she said, voicing hope that the bilateral trade volume will go up from the current USD 350 million to USD one billion in the coming years.
