MAJOR FIRE ENGULFS METAL SCRAP GODOWN IN INDIA'S MUMBAI CITY
NEW DELHI, India Jan 9 (NNN-Xinhua) -- A major fire broke out at a large metal scrap godown in India's financial capital Mumbai Tuesday, fire officials said.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of any casualty in the incident.
"The fire started in the early hours of the day at the godown on Reay Road and soon it gutted the godown," a senior fire official said.
Some five fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames, he said.
A probe has been ordered into the incident, the official added.
This is the sixth incident of fire in Mumbai in the past 20 days. A major fire engulfed a busy court complex in the financial capital Monday morning.
At least four people, including two children, died in a fire that broke out at a building in Mumbai's Marol last week. And on December 29, 14 people, mostly young women, were killed in a fire at a trendy rooftop pub in Mumbai's Kamala Mills complex.
Similarly, 12 people were killed on December 18 after a fire broke out at a snack shop in Mumbai's Saki Naka area.--NNN-XINHUA
