Qatar- ISC participating in Asian Community Football Tournament

Indian Sports Centre (ISC), an apex body of the Embassy of India has achieved its objective in promoting Sports and Games among the entire Indian community as well as supporting various Games Federations under Qatar Olympic Committee in their national and international endeavours.

Speaking at the Press conference , Nilangshu Dey , President of Indian Sports Centre, highlighted that within a span of less than a year since its formation, the Sports Centre has shown remarkable achievements in organising Inter school tournaments in table tennis, swimming, yoga and skipping rope among all 14 Indian Schools.

Indian Sports Centre has taken more initiatives in promoting football among the community in line with Qatar's vision and supported Qatar Football Associations and Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy in their various national and international endeavours during the last year.

On behalf of the Indian community, Sports Centre has signed an MOU on June 12, 2017 with the Supreme Committee of Delivery and Legacy for supporting their various endeavours relating to FIFA 2022.

Indian Sports Centre is also representing INDIA in the 6th Asian Community Football Tournament (ACFT) which is being organised by Qatar Football Association (QFA) starting from January 12 onwards .The Inauguration ceremony of the ACFT will bring all 12 Asian Country teams to perform followed by Inaugural match between India and Jordan to be played in Al Gharafa Stadium at 7pm.

For the first time Indian Team has been selected from open trial, participated by 75 footballers of Indian expatriates and constituted 25 players team for participating in the ACFT and QCFL tournaments.

However, India, which is considered the largest expatriate community in Qatar, has been given the honour of playing the inaugural match of the tournament with Jordan, last years' tournament champion.
