Hackers pursue data for Winter Olympics participants

(MENAFN) According to cyber-security firm McAfee, people who are to participate in the anticipated Winter Olympics have had their personal information at risk of being hacked.

Malware-infected emails targeting organizations connected to the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games have been discovered after they were sent a month ago.

The security firm confirmed that several groups linked with the Games received those kinds of emails with a number associated with ice hockey among them.

McAfee stated "the majority of these organisations had some association with the Olympics, either in providing infrastructure or in a supporting role. The attackers appear to be casting a wide net with this campaign."
