Algeria, Iraq eye energy coop.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, Jan 7 (KUNA) -- Visiting Algerian Minister of Energy Mustapha Guitouni said Sunday his country is looking forward to promoting and bolstering cooperation with Iraq in gas and oil investments.

Speaking at a joint news conference with Iraqi Oil Minister Jabar Al-Luaibi, Guitouni said his Baghdad visit mainly aimed at exploring closer cooperation in the areas of gas investments and oil finds.

He added that Algeria's state energy company Sonatrach has a yen to be active in the Iraqi market, given that it boasts long-standing expertise in this regard.

On his part, the Iraqi oil minister said his country is eager to push forward the level of cooperation with Algeria, speaking highly of historic cooperation between both Arab nations.

He hoped that Baghdad could draw on Sonatrach's expertise in the revamp of its gas industry. (end) ahh.mt
