Oman- Indian schools board election on January 13 18 vie from ISM

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The elections to the Board of Directors (BoD) of Indian Schools in Oman will be held at the Indian School Muscat (ISM) premises on January 13.

This will be the fourth election since the process was instituted in 2011.

The election commission received 20 nominations from ISM of which two have withdrawn, leaving 18 candidates in the fray from which only five will get elected.

The election will have more diversity with candidates from different backgrounds such as academia, industry and social entrepreneurship sectors contesting this time.

The voting process will take place from 8am to 5pm. Parents of ISM students can exercise their franchise to elect their representatives in BoD.

Voters must produce their resident cards and give the GR number of their wards so as to get the voter ID.

The election commission earlier published the list of parents eligible to vote in this election on ISM notice boards as well as the website www.ismelections.org, with enough time for the voters to rectify corrections if any.

Votes will be counted under the supervision of representatives from the Ministry of Education and the results are expected to be declared on the same day.

The election commission under the leadership of Dr Sathish Nambiar and others such as Shakeel K M Babu Rajendran, Dileep Somani, and Padmini Nambiar, has urged parents to avoid crowding in and around ISM premises so as to ensure a smooth election.
