Bedaya Centre launches flower competition
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Bedaya Centre
for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Centre), in
collaboration with L'ETO Café, has launched a competition for the best
flower arrangement for local entrepreneurs working in the field of
floristry.
The competition, which runs until January 12, is open to
participants who own such a business for at least six months with either
a commercial registration or licence to conduct domestic business (work
from home), Bedaya Centre has said in a statement.
To take part in
the competition, which is hosted by L'ETO Café, participants can upload
photographs of previously done arrangements on the dedicated website -
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/leto-flowers
All photographs must be submitted by January 12, the organisers have said.
Following
the submission, four candidates will be shortlisted for the finals to
attend a workshop on L'ETO Café and the concept behind it to ensure that
the submitted flower arrangements for the competition are in line with
the café's concept.
Each participant will be granted a week-long
opportunity to display his or her arrangements at the L'ETO Café table
where guests and customers can vote to select the winning candidate. The
winning entry will be granted a month's contract for supplying L'ETO
Café with flower arrangements.
Reem al-Sowaidi, general manager of
Bedaya Centre, said: 'The floristry profession is a common occupation
among local entrepreneurs, especially women. From our side, we do our
best to support local projects to put them on the right track by
providing them with a unique experience and opportunity to showcase
their products at one of the leading coffee houses in town - L'ETO Café,
where guests and judges can assess their arrangements and select the
winner from the finalists.
'By joining hands with L'ETO Café, we were
able to give one local entrepreneur the opportunity to be awarded with a
one-month-long contract to supply them with flower arrangements. At the
same time, other participating entrepreneurs will get a motivation to
improve their performance.
Salem al-Athba and Hassan al-Maadid,
owners of L'ETO Café in Qatar, said 'such an initiative aims to support
local entrepreneurs by giving them the opportunity to highlight the best
of all participants and provide them with an overview of the nature of
their work so that they can compete in the local market.
Al-Athba
and al-Maadid stressed that they were 'pleased to be a part of this
innovative initiative and looked forward to working with Bedaya in
future as well.
Bedaya Centre is a joint initiative of Qatar Development Bank and Silatech.
