United Airlines flight diverted after passenger messes lavatories up

A United Airlines flight flying from Chicago to Hong Kong had to be diverted to the Anchorage Airport in Alaska after one of the passengers messed up two of the lavatories on the flight with his own faeces.

Anchorage Airport Police Lieutenant Joe Gamache said that the perpetrator had been apprehended by the airport police.


What we know about the incident
Details


The man responsible is a 22-year-old Vietnamese passport holder with US residency.

After being escorted off the aircraft in handcuffs, he was interviewed and sent to a hospital for a mental evaluation.

Authorities said that he made no threat, nor interfered with the flight crew. No charges have been filed yet.

United Airlines said it provided accommodation for the 245 affected passengers.
