(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: The Farwaniya police have arrested a gang of Egyptians who specialized in stealing electric cables, reports Al- Rai daily quoting the Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Interior Ministry. Police have also arrested two Iranians for buying the stolen cables from the Egyptians and recovered the cables from the shop. The daily quoting the department official said the arrest came after several reports were received by the Farwaniya police about the theft of the cables. Following complaints the police intensified patrols in the affected area and saw the door of one of the power transformers in the area open and some people were at work. Police stealthily approached the men and saw them removing the cables. Seeing police the men tried in vain to escape by they were pursued and arrested. During interrogation the suspects admitted to stealing the cables from Al-Andalus, Station M; Al-Nahda, Sulaibikhat Station C; Al-Nahda Sulaibikhat Station D; Al-Nahda, Sulaibikhat Station E; Yarmouk, Yarmouk Station A; South Surrah, Al-Sadiq station; Ardhiya Residential Area, Ardhiya C, and Sabah Al-Nasser, Sabah Al-Nasser Station D and Al-Jahra, Al-Qasr Station M.
Smuggling bid foiled: Customs officers at the Kuwait International Airport recently foiled an attempt by an Indian woman to smuggle 2.25 kilos of marijuana, reports Al-Anba daily. The woman who had neatly concealed the contraband in her baggage appeared confused when she reached the inspection desk. She has been referred to the General Department for Drugs Control. In another, similar case, Customs officers at the Kuwait International Airport have arrested an unidentified Egyptian for attempting to smuggle 1,500 Tramadol pills into the country, reports Al- Anba daily. The pills were hidden inside his bag. The contraband and Egyptian have been referred to the General Department for Drugs Control.
Iraqi stirs panic: Police have arrested an unidentified Iraqi criminal who in a vain attempt to escape police entered the house of a Kuwaiti and created panic among the Kuwaiti family, in Sa'ad Al- Abdullah, reports Al-Rai daily. According to security sources the suspect was driving in the area and was told to stop for committing a traffic violation. The man obeyed but he looked abnormal and failed to show his civil ID. When he knew he would be arrested, he got out of the vehicle and took to his heels and entered the house of the Kuwaiti. Police took permission from the owner of the house and controlled the man although he fiercely resisted arrest. Police later discovered he was driving the car which was reported stolen in 2009. He was also wanted by law for drug-related offence.
Two attack policemen: Two young siblings physically assaulted security operatives affiliated to Jahra Command and vandalized the windshields of their patrol car. The incident resulted in injury to one officer. A security source said officers at the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry dispatched a team of rescue men to the scene upon receiving a distress call that two siblings were attacking a neighbor. The officers were able to arrest the attackers, but one of them hit a piece of metal object on the hand of a First Sergeant, and inflicted an injury on him. The two suspects went ahead and smashed the front and rear windshields of the patrol car and tried to escape. At a point, the officers were able to surmount the first suspect and put him into the patrol car, while the second suspect fled to their family house. He was eventually arrested. The injured officer was taken to Jahra Hospital for treatment.
'I'm tired of life': A Kuwaiti woman, born in 1998, tried to jump from Fintas Bridge in an attempt to commit suicide. 'I am tired of my life. My father and mother do not care about me. I am tired,' the woman repeatedly said these words while sitting on the wall of the bridge. The Operations Unit in the Ministry of Interior received information about the woman trying to take her own life. Police and paramedics were dispatched to the scene under the command of Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah. Upon arrival at the location, Al- Tarrah succeeded in calming down the woman and convinced her not to commit suicide. She then came off the bridge. During initial investigations, the woman complained that her mother is mistreating her. She was referred to the area police station where necessary measures were taken against her while her parents were summoned for questioning
