Fans across Oman eager to catch a glimpse of Amitabh Bachchan


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Both Omanis and expatriates are eagerly awaiting Friday to catch a glimpse of Indian film actor, Amitabh Bachchan.

The actor will be in Muscat for the opening of three Kalyan Jewellers showrooms. Bachchan who is the global brand ambassador of the group will inaugurate these showrooms along with four other Indian actors Prabhu Ganesan, Nagarjuna, Shivraj Kumar and Manju Warrier.

Though no arrangements have been made for the public, the actor's fans want to do all it takes to catch a glimpse of the star who has garnered popularity worldwide for essaying roles that have struck note with all sections of the society. While some fans said they were ready to wait for hours to just see him once, others are hopeful of getting at least one photo-op with the actor.

A hotel employee, Saada al Touqi is hoping to at least shake hands with him.

'I will do whatever it takes to go see him at one of the three Kalyan Jewellers' showrooms. I plan to go to Oman Avenues Mall and wait for him there. I like Hindi films and Amitabh Bachchan has always been my hero at all times. I would love to meet and shake hands with him,' said an excited Saada.

Indian expatriate Mohammad Kaleem said his joy knew no bounds when he learnt that the actor was going to be in Muscat.

'I have grown up seeing his movies. One cannot describe his calibre in words. His versatility is remarkable. I don't want to lose the chance to miss him in Oman,' he said.

The 75 year old actor continues to deliver hit films till now showcasing issues relevant to the society. 'Amitabh Bachchan is the epitome of acting not only in India but the entire world. He strikes a chord with the audience irrespective of their nationality or religion. I don't want to miss the chance of seeing him at least at one the events in Muscat on Friday,' said Shakeb Aiyaz, a Pakistani expatriate residing in Muscat.

Egyptian teacher, Mohammed Hassan said Bachchan Senior's fan-following is not limited to the subcontinent. 'It is a good opportunity to meet a legend like him. A photo-op with him would be a dream come true. He is not just popular in India and the Arab world but across the globe,' Hassan said.

According to Rajesh Kalyanaraman, executive director of Kalyan Jewellers, the brand's association with the superstar started in 2012.

The Kalyan Jewellers showrooms launch on Friday is scheduled at 3.30pm at Nesto Hypermarket Ma'abela; 4.30pm at Ruwi High Street and 5.30pm at Oman Avenues Mall, Bausher.
