Jordan- Japan provides grant to Friendship Association for the Blind

Amman, Dec. 21 (Petra)--The Friendship Association for the Blind singed with the Japanese Embassy in Amman on Thursday, a grant agreement under which the Japanese side will provide educational products worth $78,515 for the blind and visually impaired .

The agreement was signed by President of the association Ahmad Lawzi and Japanese Ambassador to Jordan Hidenao Yanagi in the presence of Minister of Social Development Hala Latouf.

The Japanese ambassador said his country is committed to providing political and economic support to the Kingdom, adding that the total aid that have been provided by Japan to Jordan after the Syrian crisis stood at more than $1 billion.

He voiced hope that the project will help the visually impaired to get job opportunities and achieve social and financial independence.

Lawzi said the project will help in improving the educational performance of the blind and enable them to progress in the labour market.

The minister of social development for her part thanked the Japanese government to the support provided to Jordan, especially through non governmental organizations.
