Jordan- Gov't: Illegal Drug Consumption Down 12.5%

AMMAN/IRBID —AlGhad— Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) Anwar Taraweneh uncovered today, Wednesday, that the overall rate of illegal drug and narcotics consumption has declined 12.5 per cent in 2017. In a meeting with the national drug control team, Tarawneh said that 95 per cent of the confiscated drugs were prepared for outbound smuggling.
Overall, the Department were able to drive down drug use among school and university students by 61.5 per cent, he confirmed.
The Family Protection and Childhood Society, who organised the meeting, also organised multiple activities to raise awareness on the dangers of drug use, including a short movie and a number of youth initiatives.(Petra)
