Azerbaijani delegation participates at ICAO conference

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) held the 10th Conference on Air Services Negotiation (ICAN/2017) in Colombo, Sri Lanka, the State Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) of Azerbaijan reported on December 15.

As many as 426 delegates from 66 states and one international organization took part in the conference. Within five days, they held 456 negotiations and meetings, where 420 bilateral documents were signed and initialed.

The delegation of Azerbaijan's CAA, headed by its Director Arif Mammadov, held negotiations with the delegations of civil aviation from 15 countries. The texts of intergovernmental agreements on air services were agreed at the level of civil aviation experts with the delegations of Australia, Kenya, New Zealand, Thailand and the Seychelles.

Azerbaijan's CAA also held negotiations with delegations representing Turkey, Belarus and Kazakhstan on the operation of air transport.

The International Civil Aviation Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations. It codifies the principles and techniques of international air navigation and fosters the planning and development of international air transport to ensure safe and orderly growth.

The ICAO Council adopts standards and recommended practices concerning air navigation, its infrastructure, flight inspection, prevention of unlawful interference, and facilitation of border-crossing procedures for international civil aviation.
