Oman- Haya Water works towards quality, health, safety and environment

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- In order to achieve its objectives and to render its main objective to make Oman greener and healthier, Haya Water continuously works to improve the quality of its work and services related to the management and treatment of wastewater, the preservation of the environmental resources, the maintenance of the working environment and the safety and health of all its employees and contractors as well as citizens and residents in its business and project areas.

Hamed bin Hamoud al Hashmi, general manager, Corporate Support, Haya Water, said, 'The company endeavours to ensure maintaining high measures of quality, health and safety by implementing local and international standards and requirements. These standards are applied to all its work and activities and are used as a tool to develop its human resources by including these requirements and standards in all its daily operations and making it a primary responsibility for all employees.

'In addition, the company provides a healthy and safe working environment for all the employees along with continuous training to ensure proper understanding of environmental risks and setting appropriate controls.

'The company continuously identifies and evaluates risks and works to reduce them. Moreover, it responds to emergencies, reduces accidents and imminent accidents with the application of local and international standards of environment management by rationalising the consumption of energy and natural resources in all its activities, mitigating lost, reducing pollution and raising environmental awareness among all employees and contractors.'

He added that Haya Water pays great attention to occupational health and safety as the company started to establish regulations and internal controls to increase the efficiency of the principles of occupational health and safety by allocating a specialised team in the field of occupational health and safety that follows up the commitment of the employees and its contractors to its rules and regulations regarding occupational health and safety by conducting periodic inspections to ensure that the safety requirements of buildings, STPs, workshops and laboratories are applied.

The team also spreads awareness about the prevention and establishes the principles of occupational safety among staff through instructional signboards and preventive leaflets and organises many educational and awareness lectures in this field.

It is worth mentioning that Haya Water has reached advanced stages in the field of the management of quality, health, safety and environment since it has been certified ISO 17025 in 2011 for the general requirements of the efficiency of testing and calibration laboratories by increasing the efficiency of laboratory staff, quality of analysis and equipment.
