Palestine Pres., Arab League chief discuss US Jerusalem decision

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Dec 11 (KUNA) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas held talks with Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul Gheit Monday on confronting the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and moving the American embassy from Tel Aviv to the occupied city.

Abbas and Abul Gheit discussed the "diplomatic path" the Arab countries planned to take to minimize negative impacts of this "dangerous decision," the league said in a statement.

Abbas brifed Abul Gheit about the Palestinian measures against the American move "which isolated the US and aborted its role as a historic sponsor of the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis," said the statement.

Abul Gheit said the Arab rejection of the American decision "is clear and solid." He added the Arab League would follow up the diplomatic and media action against the US action. (end) mfm.bs
