Jordan- PM, Tajik president discuss bilateral


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Dec. 10 (Petra) -- Prime Minister Dr. Hani al-Mulqi and President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon discussed Sunday ways to strengthen bilateral relations and open wider scopes for joint cooperation.

Al-Mulqi said, during a meeting attended by a number of ministers and officials of the two countries, President Rahmon's visit Jordan ushers in a new beginning for further cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The prime minister stressed the importance of developing an executive program for agreements the two countries signed today to ensure the best implementation of them, pledging that what was signed today will be respected and implemented by the Jordanian government.

The Tajik president said he was happy to visit Jordan and praised the achievements made by Jordan, in terms of strengthening the political system and the development of the community, in addition to the status the Kingdom enjoys at the international level.

"We believe that the two countries have vast potential, based on the historical and cultural ties, friendship and brotherhood between the two peoples, to promote relations to a higher level," he said, stressing his country's readiness for further cooperation.

President Rahmon voiced support for a proposal made by Prime Minister Hani Al-Mulqi to establish cooperation between the two countries in the banking domain in light of Jordan's advanced expertise in this field, pointing out that a delegation will be sent to Jordan for this purpose.

He said that he and His Majesty the King agreed to hold a forum of Jordanian-Tajik businessmen in conjunction with His Majesty's official visit to Tajikistan next year to discuss means of cooperation between the private sectors in both countries.

The Tajik president affirmed support for another proposal to establish a joint ministerial committee between the two countries to be an effective and important mechanism for enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

Furthermore, President Rahmon noted that an official delegation from his country's security agencies will visit Jordan next month to explore ways of cooperation in the security domain.

Prime Minister Hani al-Mulqi and President Rahmon oversaw the signing of a number of bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding in economic, agricultural, technical, cultural and scientific domains. An agreement was also signed to establish a join Tajik-Jordanian business council. AA
