Jordan takes part in UfM Blue Economy Conference

Amman, Dec. 10 (Petra)- Jordan took part in the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Regional Stakeholder Conference on Blue Economy recently held in Naples (Italy).

In a statement issued by the organization, Miguel Garcia-Herraiz, Deputy Secretary General of UfM, highlighted crucial role of blue economy in achieving sustainable development and creating job opportunities to Jordan.

Herraiz also lauded the Kingdom's support for the UfM gathering, and said the Aqaba Special Economy Zone sponsored one of its sessions.

The international and multi-stakeholder event brought together over 400 participants, including governments' representatives, business sector, universities/training and education centres, global development agencies, and civil society organizations dealing with marine and maritime issues.

The discussions touched on providing a regional platform to tackle diverse challenges impeding promotion of blue economy, and identifying policies to harness its diverse potentials in fostering growth, jobs, investments.
