'Dangal' child star Zaira Wasim allegedly molested on Vistara flight
10 Dec 2017
Seventeen-year-old Zaira Wasim, who left a lasting impression with her portrayal of young Geeta in 'Dangal', has alleged molestation on a Vistara flight while no one came to help.
In an Instagram video, she is heard narrating her ordeal and breaking down. "Is this how you're going to take care of girls?"
Vistara says they have "zero tolerance for such behavior" and are conducting an investigation.
The actor whose debut film created global records
Wasim made her acting debut with the Aamir Khan-starrer 'Dangal', which became the highest-grossing Indian film ever. For portraying young wrestler Geeta Phogat, she received the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. She then appeared as an aspiring teenage singer in 'Secret Superstar'.
Wasim alleges a man sitting behind her on a Delhi-Mumbai flight put his foot on her armrest and started caressing her back and neck with his foot.
"I ignored it the first time, blamed the turbulence."
But when she woke up from a nap, she found his foot rubbing her back and neck.
The lights were dim so she couldn't click a photo.
Vistara crew allegedly didn't interfere when Wasim sought help
In the live video recorded just after she landed, Wasim alleges the crew aboard the flight didn't help her either. "Slow claps for Vistara's crew guys!"
The NCW said it's sending a notice to Vistara. "Why till now they have not named this man till now?" tweeted member Rekha Sharma. Vistara says it will investigate.
Meanwhile, Wasim's manager said they'll file a police complaint.
