UAE- 48,000 milk packets, 3.5 tonnes juice donated by charity
Feeding Food collaborated with the UAE Food Bank initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Sheikha Hind bint Juma Al Maktoum, chairperson of the bank's board of trustees, urged the distribution of food factories' surplus products to vulnerable people through charity associations in the country.Recently, Beit Al Khair distributed 48,000 packets of long life milk, contributed by Al Rawabi Company, to eligible people in the emirate of Ajman, said Abdeen Taher Al Awadhi, general director of the Beit Al Khair Society. "We also contributed 3.5 tonnes of cold juices of different sizes," Al Awadhi said.
The society, in collaboration with the Emirates Islamic Bank, also distributed 200 meals that later increased to 1,000, to labourers at their work sites in Dubai and Ajman, he added. "The society, with relentless support from the UAE Food Bank, is now distributing up to 5,000 meals every month, along with additional amounts of cold meals and juices that are given to vulnerable workers at work sites in summer."These included 450 meals recently distributed to the workers of the Dubai slaughterhouses, to mark the 46th National Day celebrations, he disclosed. "These have added up the meals contributed over the last few months to over 85,000. The campaign expects to contribute till the middle of next year."
Meanwhile, the Beit Al Khair Society has agreed with the Dubai Slaughterhouses to slay 63 animals every month and to distribute fresh meat to the registered eligible families.
