(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH, Dec 5 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday received a telephone call from US President Donald Trump on an intention to relocate the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
During the call, Trump told Abbas he would intend to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Palestinian news agency (Wafa) reported.
Abbas, however, warned against dangerous repercussions caused by this decision on the peace process, peace and stability in the Middle East region and the entire world, Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudaina said.
"President Abbas renewed our firm stance that the Palestinian state will not be established without East Jerusalem as its capital in line with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative," he said.
Abbas will continue his contacts with world's leaders and heads so as to prevent the US administration from taking this rejected and unacceptable move, the spokesman noted.
Earlier today, Abu Rudaina said in a statement that the Palestinian leadership considers calling for holding an Arab emergency summit if the US administration recognizes Jerusalem as Israel's capital and moves its embassy that holy city. (end) nq.hm
