'Intifada' threats by Hamas if US moves to Jerusalem
(MENAFN) The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas which controls Gaza called for a new "intifada" on Saturday if Washington recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel or moves its embassy to the city.
US President Donald Trump may on Monday fulfill a campaign pledge on the American embassy, which like all other foreign missions is currently located in the coastal city of Tel Aviv, according to reports in Washington.
"We warn against such a move and call on the Palestinian people to revive the intifada if these unjust decisions on Jerusalem are adopted", said Hamas in a statement.
