Earthquake rocks Southeastern Iran

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Tehran: An earthquake measuring 4.4 magnitude jolted the village of Hojedk near the town of Ravar located in Iran's southeastern province of Kerman on Saturday.

According to the seismological center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred in an area located at 30.7 degrees latitude and 57.38 degrees longitude and in the depth of 10 kilometers.

There were no reports of casualties in the quake-hit area.

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake also jolted the area on Friday morning, resulted in more than 150 seismic in the region.

The earthquakes come three weeks after another powerful earthquake that hit the border area between Iran and Iraq, killing about 505 people in the city of Kerman alone, as well as material losses.
