Arab Leagues calls for serious Mideast peace process

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Nov 29 (KUNA) -- The Arab League called on Wednesday for the launch of a serious Mideast peace process that will end the unjust Israeli occupation and lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

In a speech marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people, Arab League Secretary Ahmed Abul-Gheit said that it was time for the world to band together and bring this worrying regional dispute to an end.

The US administration in addition to other regional and global partners must find a way to ensure that the rights of the Palestinian people were not further violated, said Abul-Gheit who affirmed that the Arab League was willing to provide all its resources to help the people of Palestine establish their country.

The top Arab official encouraged Palestinians to continue on their efforts for reconciliation, affirming that these efforts will be a strong base for the future Palestinian state.

He refused all Israeli steps to sabotage attempts for peace in the Middle East.

He said that Israel had no shame in seeking a non-permanent seat at the UNSC for 2019-20 despite all the violations it carried out against the Palestinian people.

In 1977, the UN General Assembly called for the annual observance of November 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. (end) mfm.gta
