3.8 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Northeastern Morocco
(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat - An earthquake registering 3.8 on the Richter scale struck the northeastern province of Driouch on Monday, the National Institute of Geophysics (ING) has announced. The earthquake struck at around 12:20 a.m., sending mild tremors through the Temsamane commune in the province of Al Hoceima, according to a warning bulletin by the National Earthquake Surveillance and Alert Network of the ING. The Richter scale ranges between "Micro" (1.0), to "Great" (above 9.0). Tremors with magnitudes of 4.0 are considered "light," marked by an obvious shaking of objects indoors. On February 24, 2004, Al Hoceima experienced one of the second worst earthquakes in Moroccan history, reaching 6.3 on the Richter scale and causing the death of 572"
