
Kuwait keen on 'extensive' development in Arab World

TUNIS, Nov 27, (KUNA): Kuwait pays prime attention to realizing comprehensive development, not only at home, but in the Arab World as well, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh said on Monday.
This is proceeding through several development initiatives, Al- Sabeeh told the opening of a ministerial conference on 'merging the Social Dimensions of the 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development in the social policies of the Arab countries,' in Tunisia.
She emphasized the fact that Kuwait takes into consideration the key political role and its impact on the efforts to achieve development. Kuwait has formed a permanent comission for implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), comprising the Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (SCPD), the central department for reform, the Foreign Ministry, the private sector and the civil society, besides monitors from the World Bank, the UN Development Program (UNDP) and the State Audit Bureau of Kuwait, she said.
In the meantime, Al-Sabeeh warned of the negative impact of the ongoing challenges and hardships in the Arab region on comprehensive development and merging the social dimensions in its policies. She said the Council of the Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, whose 37th Presidency Kuwait received last week, would work on taking the necessary resolutions and measures for promoting conditions in the Arab World.
The conference offers the Arab World a good chance to exchange expertise on the issue, Tunisian Minister of Social Affairs Mohammad Trabelsi told the event. The sustainable development plan includes a multitude of goals with social dimension, topped with elimination of poverty, achieving equality and exterminating all forms of discrimination, he added. Tunisia has comprised various social strategic orientations in its development plan for curbing poverty and for the social and economic merge of the poor classes, in addition to enhancing social aid and improving the standard of living, he noted
