Oman- OCCI announces winners


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) announced winners of the Innovation Award recently.

Out of the 14 projects that reached the final stage, Glazing Ceramic and Pottery Industries with the Omani Trees' Ashes; Leaf and Root Extract Based Ointments by Annona Squamosa and First Aid Jacket were announced as the three winners, stated a press release.

The first place winner was awarded RO3,000, second one RO2,000 and third one RO1,000. 'Innovation and innovators will remain one of the elements of the chamber's initiatives which will continue its collaboration with The Research Council (TRC) for the support of innovators and achieve the sustainable development between the public and private sectors,' Saeed Saleh Saeed al Kiyumi, chairman of OCCI said.

Dr Hilal bin Ali al Hinai, secretary general of TRC, said, 'The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Innovation Award is an example of the partnership between TRC and the private sector.' The closing ceremony of the award was held under the patronage of H H Sayyid Dr Fahad bin al Julanda al Said, assistant secretory general for innovation development at TRC. OCCI Innovation Award aims to motivate Omani youth by developing innovational ideas in scientific and technical fields.
