(MENAFN) According to a statement made by his family, former NY Representative Maurice Hinchey has passed away at the age of seventy-nine on Wednesday.
After his retirement as a lawmaker, Hinchey represented the 26th district of New York 1993-2003 as well as the 22nd district 2003-2013.
His family said in the statement "Congressman Maurice Hinchey passed away peacefully at his home in Saugerties this afternoon, he was a beloved statesman, and cherished for his work in the community and nationwide." It continued "the family will announce plans in the coming days and thanks everyone for privacy in this emotional time."
