Turkey to hold first OIC meet on mediation

Turkey will organise the First Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states conference on mediation with theme 'Surge in Mediation: The Role of the OIC in Istanbul today.
Considering peaceful resolution of conflicts and mediation as highly important and playing a pioneering role at the international and regional levels in that respect, Turkey maintains that greater engagement in mediation by regional organisations would have positive effect on overall peace and stability, said a statement issued by Embassy of Turkey in Qatar.
With this understanding and with a view to contributing to the capacity building efforts of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the field of mediation,
Turkey, as the current Chair of the Summit and the Executive Committee of the OIC, will organize the First OIC Member States Conference on Mediation in Istanbul today.
The Conference, which will be organised in collaboration with the OIC General Secretariat under the theme of 'Surge in Mediation: The Role of the OIC, will be inaugurated by Ambassador Ahmet Yildiz, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, and Ambassador Abdallah Alim, Assistant Secretary General of the OIC for Political Affairs.
