(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, Nov 19 (KUNA) -- The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) has announced that a humanitarian and relief aid convoy had entered Jeroud city in Damascus countryside.
In a statement, the SARC said that a 26-truck aid convoy arrived in the city Sunday.
It noted that the aid included 7,200 food packages, 300 baskets of vegetables, seeds and fertilizers, various relief items, medicines, and medical supplies.
In the meantime, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the fierce battles between government forces and opposition fighters continued for the sixth day in row in Damascus' Eastern Ghouta.
It pointed out that 1,150 air strikes, artillery and rocket firings on towns and villages of Eastern Ghouta have left hundreds of casualties in the six-day battles.
It has documented the killing of 77 civilians, including 14 children and four women, due to the intense bombardment and fighting in Eastern Ghouta since Tuesday. (end) tk.ibi
