President Mugabe under house arrest as Zimbabwe roams in chaos

(MENAFN) South African President Jacob Zuma confirmed that President Mugabe had been put under house arrest by military of Zimbabwe in Harare, the capital, though the president assured that he was safe.

The capital of Zimbabwe had been swarming with patrols by troops who said they were targeting "criminals" in attempt to assure citizens.

The situation has alarmed many authorities that the US embassy has notified its citizens residing in Zimbabwe's capital to "shelter in place" as the UK Foreign Office recommend Britons "currently in Harare to remain safely at home or in their accommodation until the situation becomes clearer."
