Kuwait- NCCAL keen on backing young theater artists


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) reiterated commitment to support young and help harness the talents of Kuwaiti theater artists.

In statements to KUNA on the sidelines of 24th Jordanian Theater Festival, NCCAL Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Kuwaiti delegation Dr. Bader Al-Dowaish said that the NCCAL has a comprehensive strategy to enrich the experience and upgrade the performance of young theater artists.

This strategy includes helping them take part in local and overseas festivals and contents as well as allocating prizes for the distinguished works, he said.

He cited as example, the play which was nominated to represent Kuwait in the Jordanian Theater Festival.

The played, titled Atsah, is work of a group of young Kuwaiti artists, he said, noting that it has grabbed three prizes in a local festival.

The 24th annual Jordanian Theatre Festival kicked on Monday at the Royal Cultural Centre.

The festival, which is held in cooperation with the Jordan Artists Association, showcases musical and theatrical performances, a short movie and several workshops.

Performances from the UAE, Kuwait, Sudan, Egypt, Palestine and Iraq are taking part in the festival, which will conclude on November 21. (end) mjb.ibi
