QTA partners with Ride of Champions

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Qatar Cyclists, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, has announced Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) as the presenting partner of the Ride of Champions for both the 2017 and 2018 editions.
The Ride of Champions event will be held on November 24.
Dr Abdulaziz al-Kuwari, president of Qatar Cyclists, said: 'Thanks to QTA's support, we are now able to invest in marketing and positioning the event on the international stage to turn it not only into Qatar's, but hopefully the region's, premier celebration of amateur and, in time, elite cycling.
'We will be able to develop captivating audio and visual content to position and market the event internationally in future years, as well as invest more heavily in marketing this year's event to cycling fans in Oman, Kuwait and the wider region.
Rashed al-Qurese, chief marketing and promotion officer at QTA, said: 'We are particularly proud to be partnering with Qatar Cyclists as they have been instrumental in the country's hosting of the UCI Road Cycling World Championships in 2016, during which it demonstrated its ambition to host mass participation cycling events in Qatar.
The 2017 Ride of Champions event includes three events for experienced adult cyclists (48km, 78km and 137.5km), which will all start at 6.30am. The early morning events will depart from Qatar Foundation (QF) to Al Sheehaniya and take the same return route. A second cycling event starts at 9am for families, beginners and riders new to the sport. They will cycle a 5.8km loop, totally closed to traffic, in the area around QF and Al Shaqab. Riders can complete as many loops as they like until 11am.
All events will be based out of QF's ceremonial court. Cycling fans, families and supporters can also join in the fun and enjoy live music, a farmer's market and food stands. Temporary bike shops with mechanics and sponsor booths will also be set up at the court.
Additionally, there are events for children under the age of eight years, who would like to ride in Qatar Foundation's Oxygen Park. Kids will be able to compete against each other in short races around the park, under the supervision of their parents or guardians.
More than 750 participants have registered for the Ride of Champions event and registration is still open on www.rocdoha.qa, the organisers have said. Those interested to find more information on how to participate, volunteer or sponsor may contact
The event is presented by QTA and is supported by Qatar Cyclists, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Qatar Cycling Federation, Qatar Foundation, Ooredoo, Rayyan Water and GMC.
