More Israelis refuse serving in the army
(MENAFN)Tair Kaminer had been in and out of prison six times for refusing to fulfill her mandatory military service in the Israeli Defense Forces, or IDF.
Kaminer is considered the longest-serving female conscientious objector in Israeli history for staying in jail for a total of 160 days and still refusing to abide.
Israel has known to recruit its citizens, and once a citizen turns 18 years old, he or she is forced to serve in the military for a period of 32 months for men and 24 months for women.
"I arrived in Sderot during the last Gaza War in 2014. That year, I met the people and families, heard their stories and fears." She said while spending time with children traumatized by constant rocket fire.
