Rohingya refugees use plastic rafts to flee Myanmar
(MENAFN)Officials stated that dozens of Muslims in Rohingya floated into Bangladesh on Wednesday on a raft created by plastic jerry cans, to save their lives and runaway from violence in Myanmar.
The makeshift raft was overloaded with more than 50 passengers and drifted toward the coastal village of Shah Porir Dwip village where Bangladesh border guards spotted them and managed to help.
The 52 refugees tied plastic jerry cans together to float across the Naf River separating the two countries, said the Local border guard commander S.M. Ariful Islam.
"A lot of them arrived today on rafts made from plastic jerrycans." said local community policeman Abdul Jabbar.
