EU urges all parties in Lebanon to maintain stability


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Nov 7 (KUNA) -- The European Union said Tuesday that it expects all parties in Lebanon to continue the collective effort to maintain the stability of the country following the resignation of Prime Minister Saad Hariri on Saturday.

"All parties should pursue constructive dialogue and build upon the work achieved in the last 11 months to strengthen its institutions, as well as the important steps undertaken to prepare parliamentary elections in early 2018," Catherine Ray, spokesperson for EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, told a news conference.

She added that "the EU remains committed to stand by and assist Lebanon in line with the stronger partnership we have developed over the last years and the political commitments to ensure the continued stability and economic recovery of the country. (end) nk.bs
