VIENNA, 7th November, 2017 (WAM) -- The OPEC Fund for International Development, OFID, is to participate in the fifth International Water Association, IWA, Development Congress next week in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The conference, "Sustainable Solutions for Emerging Economies", will be attended by many donors, NGOs, water and sanitation bodies, researchers, consultants and companies.
OFID's participation comes within the framework of the OFID's support to the efforts of the International Water Association, which encourages the reuse of treated wastewater.
The conference, which will be held from 13th to 16th November, will incorporate a forum entitled "Managing Wastewater towards Water-Wise Cities", and provides the opportunity to involve experts in discussions on planning, implementation, market conditions and institutional arrangements, with the participation of water leaders worldwide. Data indicate that the majority of the world's wastewater flows back into the environment without being treated or reused, which represents a lost opportunity in a world where an estimated 1.8 billion people still obtain water from unsafe sources.
