EU, Kuwait trade reaches EUR 4.97 bln in early 2017


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Nov 4 (KUNA) -- EU imports from Kuwait in the first six month of 2017 reached EUR 2.15 billion, (USD 2.49 billion), while EU exports to Kuwait for the same period reached EUR 2.82 billion, (USD 3.27 billion), Eurostat reported Saturday.

Mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials made up EUR three billion, (USD 3.48 billion), or 90.9 percent worth of EU imports from Kuwait followed by chemicals and related products worth EUR 175 million, (USD 203 million), or 5.3 percent in 2016.

EU exports to Kuwait in 2016 were led by machinery and transport equipment worth EUR 2,29 billion, (USD 2.66 billion), or 42.1 percent followed by miscellaneous manufactured articles valued at EUR 890 million, (USD 1.03 billion), or 16.3 percent of EU exports.

EU was the 52nd import partner of Kuwait and 39th export partner in 2016.

The figures for the last four year show that EU imports from Kuwait have been dropping from EUR 6,23 billion, (USD 7.31 billion), in 2013, to EUR 5,45 billion, (USD 6.43 billion), in 2014, to EUR 4,19 billion, (USD 4.18 billion), in 2015 and EUR 3,30 billion, (USD 3.83 billion), in 2016.

EU exports to Kuwait have been relatively constant worth EUR 5,29 billion, (USD 6.14 billion), in 2013, EUR 5,06 billion, (USD 5.87 billion), in 2014, EUR 5,99 billion, (USD 6.95 billion), in 2015 and EUR 5,45 billion, (USD 6.33 billion), in 2016. (end) nk.ma
