Al Hammadi affirms Qatar's support for Unesco

Paris: Qatar's Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Wahid Al Hammadi, met here yesterday, on the sidelines of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), with a number of officials and personalities participating in the conference.
Dr Al Hammadi met with Audrey Azoulay, Unesco's elected Director-General, where he congratulated her on her new position and assured her of Qatar's ongoing support for Unesco and its programs and projects in all fields of education, science, culture, heritage protection, freedom of expression and other fields. HE Audrey Azoulay praised the role of the State of Qatar in supporting Unesco, and the importance of continuity of this support.
She also praised the great role played by H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser as Unesco's Envoy for Basic and Higher Education as well as the importance of the WISE Education Conference as an annual gathering of education experts and ministers from around the world.
H E Dr. Al-Hammadi also met with Kuwait's Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohammed Al-Faris. During the meeting, the two ministers discussed means of exchanging expertize and enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, especially in the higher education.
The Minister of Education and Higher Education also met with HE Minister of Education of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Farouk Wardak, and discussed with him various aspects of cooperation and mutual relations in the field of education. HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education met on Thursday evening with President of the Committee on Culture and Education at the French National Assembly Bruno Studer . The two sides discussed various cultural, and educational issues.
The meetings were attended by Ambassador of the State of Qatar to France Khalid bin Rashid Al Mansouri, the Secretary General of the Qatar National Committee for Education, Culture and Science Dr. Hamadah Al Sulaiti, and Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to Unesco Ali Zainal.
