(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Nov 1 (KUNA) -- The European Union (EU) welcomed Wednesday the handover of Gaza crossings to the Palestinian Authority as "an important step in the implementation of the agreement signed in Cairo on 12 October." A statement by Maya Kocijancic, spokesperson for EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, tonight said the handover will allow the Palestinian Authority to resume its full responsibilities in Gaza and achieve intra-Palestinian reconciliation.
"The European Union reiterates its readiness to provide its full support to the efforts to reunite Gaza and the West Bank under one single and legitimate Palestinian Authority," stressed the statement.
The EU expressed its readiness to redeploy its Rafah border mission if requested by the parties and as soon as conditions allow. (end) nk.hb
