Iraq to take over border crossing


(MENAFN)An Iraqi military stated on Tuesday that an Iraqi military delegation is planning to take control of the Kurdistan region border with Syria.

The Iraqi joint operation command in Baghdad stated that the delegation headed by the Iraqi army chief of staff, Lieutenant General Othman Al Ghanmi, is visiting the Fish-Khabur triangle formed by the Iraqi Turkish Syrian border.

The visit plans to "control the international border" it said, addressing Iraq's two crossings with Turkey and Syria, respectively Ebrahim Al Khalil and Fish-Khabur.

Iraqi customs officials took control of the Ebrahim Al Khalil main land crossing with Turkey, Iraqi officials said on Tuesday.
