AMMAN —AlGhad— The Attorney General decided to release the Jordanian cartoonist Emad Hajjaj today, Tuesday, after a citizen filed a complaint against him, for depicting Jesus Christ in a cartoon he drew not long ago.

The cartoon criticised the Patriarch of the Jerusalem Orthodox Church for selling off church owned properties in Jerusalem to the Israeli occupation authorities.

He explained that the incitation and exaggeration has taken the drawing far out of context, and that no insult was intended, on contraire, he added.

In response to the charge brought against him, Hajjaj explained that his cartoon was to exonerate 'brethren Christians of the betrayal being committed in Jerusalem.
