'Families only' cafes for the respite of women in Libya

(MENAFN)Well-designed cafes are emerging in Libya's capital, which drive away single men and serve women who seek a rest from the political and personal tensions surrounding them.

The cafes with European names and bright d"cor are designed to provide an atmosphere that is far away from the torn city and still violent streets.

They also offer privacy and protection from unwanted advances in this society, which happened to be socially conservative.

"If I go with my friends, we chat about our problems and change our mood," said the 27 years old Haneen, while eating a late breakfast in the busy La Rambla cafe. "A family place is more comfortable... there's no harassment or flirting." She added.
