Omani cyclist to undertake tour to mark 47th National Day


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Omani cyclist Adnan al Raisi, 23, will take part in a month-long tour in Muscat governorate to spread the message of love and peace as part of the 47th National Day celebrations. The journey will begin at Qurm beach onNovember 1.

Speaking toMuscat Daily , Raisi said, 'I started preparing for the trip seven months ago. My love for my country and His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said prompted me to participate in this journey.'

He said that the country is going to celebrate the 47th National Day onNovember 18and the journey aims to spread the message of peace and love to people of the world. Talking about the preparation, Raisi said, 'I have been exercising a lot to keep myself fit. I walk for at least four hours a day. I will wear a track suit bearing the No 47 to honour the day.'

Raisi said that the cycle journey will take him to different wilayats of Muscat governorate. 'It will be spread over a month. I will be carrying the national flag and photographs of His Majesty the Sultan. Every day the trip will take place from7am to 8pm.'

Last year, Raisi took part in a similar journey to mark the National Day of Kuwait and was honoured for the effort.

When asked about his message to the world, he said, 'I hope that peace and security prevail in the Arab region and the world.

'I hope that people will come forward and share with me the joy of celebrating the 47th National Day.'
