(MENAFN) In order to make it resist high temperatures and heavy weights, the Kaaba is said to be reinforced using Kevlar, the para-aramid synthetic fiber, a team of experts at Umm al-Qura University in Mecca studied the plan.
Mohammad Bajouda, director-general of the King Abdulaziz Complex for the Kaaba's cover, said the Kevlar material will be integrated with advanced synthetic fibers to support the silk threads and certain amounts will be used in the automatic weaving process to strengthen the cover and prevent it from tearing and expanding and bear heavy weights, according to the website of the general presidency for the affairs of the two holy mosques.
